If you're still unsure about Xbox Madden 10, then you need a trip through the football video game timeline, back to the beginning, to change your mind. Yeah, it could be a bit cruel to constantly bag on older games as a means to elevate today's football video games. Then again, those side-by-side comparisons help underscore the fact that Xbox Madden 10 is a truly top-notch football video game. Certainly, there was a huge, untapped market for football video games, when the first generation of console games made their debut. The bad news, though, was that video game technology was still in the "post-Pong" phase, and the games reflected those limitations. Even then, the game companies were excellent at the hype, and kept boasting that this one boasted "all the excitement" of real football. The characters on the gridiron are more suited to a sci-fi shooter than a football video game. Just needed to get that one off my chest. The photo may be underwhelming, but the game itself is even more so. Characters started flashing and blinking, thanks to the limited memory of the early game consoles and cartridges. Audio was as awful as the video. Another disappointment - the screen didn't (or just couldn't) scroll. Soon, the first round of the console wars would begin, and the competition created a football video game of their own. They definitely took the ball and ran with this one, giving gamers better gameplay, visuals, and sound. A step in the right direction, but work needed to be done still.
While it did tantalize the video game world with its improvements, it was still only a slight move in the right direction. It would take a few more years before anything like that took place. But this one, which was released in the late 80s, as part of the next generation of game consoles, really hit it big, to the point where people still love it. Over the years, this was the yardstick by which all football video games were measured. Can't argue with the fact that the hardcore gamers did take to this one - for the first time, the NFL got the red-carpet treatment from a football video game. It was an amazing evolution in football video games, and this one was really a major turning point. It's one of the few "old school" games that can still excite today's crop of hardcore gamers. While worthy of praise, it still trails in the distance from Xbox Madden 10.
With the great strides in gaming, football video games have reached a level worthy of the fans. We've had a few chuckles, but mocking less advanced video games isn't a productive use of our time. You've gotten the point. You have to start somewhere, and those other games did - and Xbox Madden 10 would have never been possible if it weren't for those older football video games. Hardcore gamers have every reason to be fired up - Xbox Madden 10 really is the winning touchdown. The fans aren't the only ones raving about Xbox Madden 10 - the critics have said their piece, and they're into it. Xbox Madden 10 reviews tend to feature statements such as "realistic and enjoyable." EA Sports didn't even come close to fumbling the ball with Xbox Madden 10, that's for sure.
To hell with the people who bag on Xbox Madden 10 - it truly is the best football video game out there. Xbox Madden 10 isn't just a great Xbox sports video game - it's an all-around great Xbox video game. Most of the gaming world agrees that this is the new standard by which the rest shall be judged. If you're really ready to show your stuff, you can separate yourself from the pack and face off for big bucks. The stakes have been raised, and Xbox Madden 10 maniacs now can take each other on for some serious cash. After you've really given yourself a crash course and learned all the rules, you'll score touchdown after touchdown - and make off with your rival's bankroll as well.
